Chemical type of tungsten carbide is WC, is black six crystal and metal luster, hardness are similar to diamond, is good conductor for electricity and heat . Melting point is 2870 ℃, boiling point is 6000 ℃, the relative density is 15.63 ( 18 ℃). Tungsten carbide is insoluble in water, soluble in hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid, nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid in the mixed acid. Pure tungsten carbide is fragile, if mixed with a small amount of titanium, cobalt and other metals, can reduce brittleness. Used as a cutting tool steel tungsten carbide, titanium carbide, tantalum carbide is often added or mixtures thereof, in order to enhance antiknock ability. Tungsten carbide chemical stability.

Tungsten carbide in high temperature suitable for mechanical processing, production of cutting tools, furnace structure material, jet engines, gas turbine nozzle, etc.
Tungsten and carbon compounds for another two tungsten carbide, chemical formula is WC, melting point is 2860 ℃, boiling point is 6000 ℃, the relative density of 17.15. The properties, preparation method and application are the same with tungsten carbide.
